Backtest software for financial advisors: run separate portfolios for every client

Backtests, withdrawal plans and Monte Carlo simulations in a separate account per client, together with colleagues in one account and with reports in your design. The advice stays with you.

What you get for your clients

  • One account per client

Every client gets their own account with their own login, and the data stays separate per client. You switch in without a password and back again.

  • Reports in your design

Results as a PDF with your logo, your accent colour and your company name in the footer.

  • All clients on one page

An overview shows all client accounts and how many backtest sets, backtest results and portfolios each one has.

What you calculate for clients

The same tools as in your own account, per client with their securities, their starting capital and their tax settings.

  • Portfolio backtest

Every allocation of a client's securities with real prices, after order fees and with the tax mechanics of 8 countries.

    More about the portfolio backtester
  • Withdrawal plan

Whether the portfolio would have carried the planned withdrawals — with a liquidity buffer, in the backtest and in 10,000 Monte Carlo paths.

    More about the withdrawal plan
  • Monte Carlo simulation

How widely the wealth would have spread over the years and in how many paths a goal would have been reached.

Together in one account

Colleagues work in the same account. Together you use the securities folders you share, uploaded price files and master data you maintain for the account.

Backtest sets, backtest results and portfolios stay with the person who creates them. Paperball brings saved portfolios forward with new prices — at the click of a button or automatically per list.

Fictional example

Case example: what the report shows for a client

A fictional client is 55 and wants to stop working at 65. They have €150,000 invested, save €1,000 a month until then and afterwards want to withdraw €2,000 a month until they are 95. In their client account you run this through Monte Carlo and hand them the result as a PDF in your design.

What the report contains

  1. AssumptionsTheir details, plus the price history, the number of paths and the calculation method.
  2. ResultOne sentence in the conditional: in how many of the 10,000 paths their money would have lasted to the end — not a forecast.
  3. Wealth at the endLower bound, middle path and upper bound, in today's purchasing power and in nominal terms.
  4. Possible pathsThe fan of paths over all years as a chart.
  5. How much could you have withdrawn? The largest fixed amount that would have lasted in 9 out of 10 paths — and the same question for fewer paths.
  6. Stress testsThe same paths if a crisis such as the financial crisis struck right at the start of withdrawals, in its real order.
  7. Year by year: the path with the middle amount at the endContributions, withdrawals, taxes and wealth for every year.

Your logo at the top, your company name in the footer, and at the end the notice that past results are not a reliable indicator of future ones.

The client and their details are fictional. The figures of the result are deliberately not shown here: Paperball only calculates them with the asset mix and the prices — for your client, with theirs.

Questions from advisors

Can clients see other clients' data?

No. Each client account is a separate account with its own login, and the database keeps the data separate per account. Only you as the advisor switch between the accounts.

What do I share with colleagues?

In the account you share securities folders you have released, uploaded price files and master data maintained for the account. Backtest sets, backtest results and portfolios belong to the person who creates them. Credits for backtests, Monte Carlo and updates come from a shared balance of the account: the owner decides whether everyone draws from one pool, optionally with a limit per person, or whether each person gets a fixed share.

Can I use my own price data?

Yes. You add securities by ISIN or ticker, and you upload price files for yourself or for the whole account — then everyone in the account calculates with them.

Where is my clients' data stored?

The application and database run in a data centre in Leipzig, and encrypted backups are kept in Amsterdam. You will find a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR in the footer of every page; the page about Paperball Finance names every service involved.

Does Paperball replace my advice?

No. Paperball analyses historical prices and does not recommend any investment. The advice and all obligations that come with it stay with you.

What does Paperball cost for advisors?

Client accounts, seats for colleagues and reports with your own logo come with the plans for accounts, monthly or yearly, as final prices including VAT — see all prices.
